Michael Powel was our dearest friend and one of the most talented musicians we have ever had the pleasure of hearing. His raw guitar playing ripped the roofs off of many venues in Tampa / St. Pete during the 1980's and 1990's, while his exquisite mandolin playing revealed a true heart of gold. We loved him and will miss him greatly.

Mike lost his long battle with brain cancer on Sunday, Oct. 26 after an 8 1/2 year struggle. He fought as hard and as valiantly as humanly possible. In spite of incredible odds, his will and determination and strength of spirit gave him 8 years more than the doctors predicted.
